Polarization, Mrs. Reid

Forgotten Fire displays polarization because the Gendarmes or Turks try to separate the males from the females. This makes for a lot of confusion in the book, The oldest man or men of the family(usually the father) are taken away by gendarmes saying they have been requested by someone, but they never return. Many of their wives believe they will return any day, “We don’t know he’s dead, do we? Have we seen a body? Has anyone told us he’s dead?” (Bagdasarian,2002, pg. 79). Another Example they separate the older males by killing them in front of their family. These are forms of polarization because they separate the males from the females by killing them.
