Dear Selim Bey,
Your actions throughout the book so far have been cruel and mean, but you still hide them from Vahan. Why do you try to protect Vahan from these horrible things almost like a son, yet you keep him in a stable like a slave.
The issue that I want to talk about is when you brought the young Armenian girl to the stable. Vahan thought that you were giving him company in his long hours in the stable. However this was not the case, for you brought the girl to the stable for the sole purpose of having a source of pleasure for the guards. This hurt Vahan in a way that you could not understand, he began to lose interest in everything he did, all because this girl who he thought would be his friend was too humiliated to even talk because the guards were raping her. When Vahan brought this issue to you all you did was say “what do you care what happens to a little girl you do not know, who is nothing to you. “ You talk about others’ lives as if they were nothing.
I hope that some day you will learn that all live should be valued and not thrown away like trash. Until then think about what you have done.
Sincerely,
Caleb
